The summer solstice day in Paris is annually celebrated with the grand feast of Fête de la Musique. On this day, live music is heard from every institution, and people on the streets are having fun, singing and dancing. This year the Balmain show coincided with a general celebration, and the creative director of the brand, Olivier Rusten, organized a fashion show and a rock concert in the Botanical Garden.

“Yes, it is the longest day of the year. I thought it would be the right time for a big event – a fashion show, as well as a music festival. I said to myself: “why not open up to people from all over the world?” – commented on the show Olivier Rusten.

To participate in the show, he invited musicians: Darren Criss, who performed the famous Queen and Rolling Stones, as well as Rag’n’Bone Man and Years and Years.

The rock party, organized by the luxury brand, has also become a charity project – all of the proceeds from it are the French fashion house that donated to the organization against AIDS the Red Project, which is supervised by the leader of the U2 Irish group Bono.

In this collection, Olivier Rusten has fully reflected his personal style. Black and white tuxedos, multi-colored biker jackets, silk trousers and metal dresses — silver pants and coats, jackets decorated with spikes, jackets with the effect of broken mirrors and blouses embroidered with sequins appeared on the catwalk.

The designer presented a futuristic collection in which he used the silhouettes of the 80s.

“I didn’t want to work on a“ collection of the future ”, but I wanted everything to be suitable both for today and for 2050 or 2060. I wanted to create a collection that would unite all Balmain chic, irony and skill! So the ideas of using silver and glow were born! I took a raincoat and cut it, and then made a jacket, decorated with mirrors, one by one! Maybe, in a sense, this is the glamor of the future, ”said Rusten.

According to Sheila Roch, global project director for communications at Red Project, the organization managed to raise about $ 650 million and help more than a hundred million people.
